Things continue to change for Gogol. What pieces of his identity has he lost? What has he gained? Does he have a clear sense of his own identity? What is a person's identity comprised (made up) of?
A person’s identity is made of them knowing who they truly are. The identity is gives off like a light of the person. The identity can be thought of like an actor taking in a role and they fully portray that person that they get into a mindset that they think like the person and fully feel like the character that is an identity that a person feel complete comfortable with themselves and they embrace their identity with everything they never bend for anyone the say I am this and this is who I will be. And Gogol has lost that he has left behind who is, where he comes from and who he could have become. He lost his identity because he was glad to have Maxine that he could truly feel different and leaves who he was behind and when he lost that he was who he was again but then losing his father he didn’t know who is was because he thought that he could leave his family behind but now he had to be more involved with his family having to be his old self that he disliked so didn’t want to be that person. But then he gained a happy marriage that kind of make peace with the fact Moushumi knew him before he was Nikhil and after and that helps him accept himself but that still does not help him have a clear sense of his identity. Gogol is running away from his light, who he really is.
